Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grille is out at Township 5 in Camillus. Movie Tavern is in.
Work on the new venue should start in the next two months. The theater should open early next year. Movie Tavern features a full bar with beer, wine and liquor and an extensive menu for in-theater dining. All the theaters have leather recliners for seats. Customers will be able to order food and drinks from Movie Tavern’s lobby bar or right from their seats in the theater.
The 46,000-square-foot Township 5 location will have 11 screens and 1,100 seats, said Joe Goethe, a principal at the Cameron Group of DeWitt, Township 5’s developer. CineBowl, a combination movie theater, bowling alley and restaurant, was on the Township 5 tenant list for years. Cameron and Frank Entertainment, CineBowl’s parent company, mutually decided to part ways, Goethe said. CineBowl is focusing on different markets, he said.
Movie Tavern will fit right in at Township 5. “It’s something that is special and unique to the market,” Goethe said. “It’s fantastic to have this come to Township 5.” The menu features burgers, pizzas, wraps and appetizers. The chain also has a variety of pastas, tacos, desserts and breakfast items, according to its website. The company describes its menu as “chef-driven.”
Movie Tavern currently has 19 locations in nine states, but none yet in New York. The closets sites to Syracuse now are in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Mesa Grande Taqueria is now open for business, they are an Auburn-based restaurant specializing in burritos and tacos. The restaurant’s owner says its style is “California-Mex.”
The Camillus location is Mesa Grande’s third site. In addition to the original Auburn restaurant, a location near Rochester opened earlier this year. Owner Jim Daddabbo wants to expand more in the future. The Township 5 location is in the same building as Hair Studio One and T-Mobile. The eatery sports an open kitchen and tables made with 100-year-old reclaimed barn wood. Papaya Asian Kitchen & Bar is out. The restaurant was one of the first tenants announced for Township 5.
Its replacement is Mitsuba Japanese Steakhouse, which has four other locations in New Hartford, Ithaca and Rome. Mitsuba emerged as a new Township 5 tenant

Election Inspectors
April 21st, 2015The Onondaga County Board of Elections is hiring election inspectors. You must be a registered voter, be able to serve anywhere in Onondaga County and be enrolled in either the Democratic or Republican parties. You have to work the entire day for the primary or general elections. The primary date and time has not yet been set, but the hours in the past were from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The general election is Nov. 3. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9: 30 p.m. The pay is $190 a day. There is also training with paid attendance. Election law requires a bi-partisan team of four – two Republicans and two Democrats – at each polling place. The board needs people to serve as both permanent inspectors and substitutes. Here’s how to apply: Go to the Board of Elections website http://www.ongov.net/elections/electionInspectors.html or call the Inspector Department at 435-3331.
EPA Public Notice
April 11th, 2015The Onondaga Lake Superfund Site includes a number of subsites which include Onondaga Lake itself and any site that is situated on the Lake’s shores or tributaries that has contributed contamination to, or threatens to contribute contamination to, Onondaga Lake. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is conducting its first five-year review of the Lake Bottom Subsite. The lake is located in the Towns of Geddes and Salina, Villages of Solvay and Liverpool and the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York. This review seeks to confirm that the cleanup conducted at the site to date, which has included dredging of contaminated lake sediment; disposal of the dredged
sediment at a containment facility constructed on a nearby former Solvay wastebed; isolation and thin-layer capping in the lake; habitat restoration along the Wastebed 1-8 shoreline; and the addition of calcium nitrate near the lakebed in the deep water portion of the lake to inhibit methylmercury production, continues to protect human health and the environment. Dredging and capping activities in Onondaga Lake began in July and August 2012, respectively, in accordance with the approved designs. Dredging was completed in November 2014. Capping operations are ongoing and are expected to be completed in 2016. Following a three-year in-lake pilot study conducted between 2011 and 2013, nitrate addition began in 2014. A summary of cleanup activities and an evaluation of the protectiveness of the implemented cleanup remedy will be included in the five-year review report. What is an EPA Five-Year Review?
The purpose of five-year reviews is to ensure that implemented remedies at Superfund sites function as intended and continue to be protective of human health and the environment. These regular reviews, which are required by federal law when contaminants remain at a site, include:
Inspection of the site and cleanup technologies;
Review of monitoring data, operating data, and maintenance records, and
Determination if any new relevant regulatory requirements have been established since the original clean-up decision was finalized.
When will EPA’s Five-Year Review Report be available?
It is anticipated that the five-year review report will be available at the website noted below in late August 2015. There are several ways to review information about
this subsite. The Administrative Record, which includes the decision documents used for selecting the cleanup remedy, is available for public review at the information repositories listed below. Project information is also available online at the website
noted below.

Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Council
April 11th, 2015What do you want our transportation system
to look like in 10 years? In 25 years?
What is a Long Range Transportation Plan?
The Syracuse Metropolitan Transportation Council (SMTC) is in the process of
creating an entirely new 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). This
document serves as a blueprint that guides the Syracuse Metropolitan Planning
Area’s transportation development over a 25-year-plus period. Preparing for the
Greater Syracuse Metropolitan Area’s transportation future involves careful
planning. How does transportation affect our air quality? What is the condition of
our roads and bridges? What kinds of facilities and services are needed to support
planned growth or improve the safety of our transportation system? These are just
some of the questions addressed by the Long Range Transportation Plan.
Presentation & Materials available on Monday, April 20, 6:00-8:00 at the Camillus Town Hall.
