Township 5 Updates

Frank Theatres CineBowl & Grille is out at Township 5 in Camillus. Movie Tavern is in.
Work on the new venue should start in the next two months. The theater should open early next year. Movie Tavern features a full bar with beer, wine and liquor and an extensive menu for in-theater dining. All the theaters have leather recliners for seats. Customers will be able to order food and drinks from Movie Tavern’s lobby bar or right from their seats in the theater.
The 46,000-square-foot Township 5 location will have 11 screens and 1,100 seats, said Joe Goethe, a principal at the Cameron Group of DeWitt, Township 5’s developer. CineBowl, a combination movie theater, bowling alley and restaurant, was on the Township 5 tenant list for years. Cameron and Frank Entertainment, CineBowl’s parent company, mutually decided to part ways, Goethe said. CineBowl is focusing on different markets, he said.
Movie Tavern will fit right in at Township 5. “It’s something that is special and unique to the market,” Goethe said. “It’s fantastic to have this come to Township 5.” The menu features burgers, pizzas, wraps and appetizers. The chain also has a variety of pastas, tacos, desserts and breakfast items, according to its website. The company describes its menu as “chef-driven.”
Movie Tavern currently has 19 locations in nine states, but none yet in New York. The closets sites to Syracuse now are in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Mesa Grande Taqueria is now open for business, they are an Auburn-based restaurant specializing in burritos and tacos. The restaurant’s owner says its style is “California-Mex.”
The Camillus location is Mesa Grande’s third site. In addition to the original Auburn restaurant, a location near Rochester opened earlier this year. Owner Jim Daddabbo wants to expand more in the future. The Township 5 location is in the same building as Hair Studio One and T-Mobile. The eatery sports an open kitchen and tables made with 100-year-old reclaimed barn wood. Papaya Asian Kitchen & Bar is out. The restaurant was one of the first tenants announced for Township 5.
Its replacement is Mitsuba Japanese Steakhouse, which has four other locations in New Hartford, Ithaca and Rome. Mitsuba emerged as a new Township 5 tenant
