Emerald Ash Borer

May 9th, 2018

The Emerald Ash Borer is a small green beetle whose larva feed on the living tissue of ash trees between the bark and the wood. Unfortunately, this species has been found in Camillus. The Town has started to work with Cornell Cooperative Extension to create a plan to prevent this from doing great damage to our trees.

Parks & Recreation

May 9th, 2018

In the spring, work will begin on a new outdoor fitness area in Camillus Park. This area will consist of 12 fitness stations on a concrete pad that allow opportunities for strength training and cardiovascular workouts. The area will be located directly in front of the splash pad and is expected to be completed by the middle of June.
On Saturday, June 30th the Town of Camillus Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting their annual 4th of July celebration at Veterans Memorial Park at Gillie Lake. The Town of Camillus is once again very pleased to be partnering with the Summit Federal Credit Union as the event’s primary sponsor. At 7:30 pm the popular local band Tough Luck will take the stage and at the conclusion of their performance will be one of the best fireworks shows in all of CNY. Please bring lawn chairs and/or a blanket.
New for this summer, we will be offering our Summer Concert Series on Tuesday nights instead of Wednesday nights. We have also changed the time to 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm to partially coincide with our Farmer Market. The concerts are free and popcorn and lemonade are provided free of charge. Please bring a lawn chair and/or blanket. The lineup and dates are as follows:
July 10 Flyin’ Column (Irish)
July 17th In Too Deep (Funk/Blues/Rock)
July 24th Mood Swing (Rock/Jazz/Country/Blues)
July 31st Maria DeSantis (Classic)

As soon as the Summer 2018 Parks and Recreation brochures are out, I will email it to those on my distribution list.
