Township 5

December 5th, 2012

The developers of the Township 5 project appeared before the Planning Board and provided the following update.  Certain aspects of the project include; a proposed movie theater entertainment center which is approximately the same size and located in the center of the project, a community meeting area, restaurant areas as noted, large retail stores and an office building. This Phase is to be considered Phase I, and is the retail portion. The developers hope to break ground this fall and start building early next year. The intent is to have at least a portion of the retail tenants open for business by fall of 2013.  The developer stated that due to the economy at this point the hotel portion has been pulled.  Potential tenants include: Buffalo Wild Wings, Olive Garden, Texas Longhorn, McDonalds, Community Area (for performance, such as musical and theater), Bank, Movie Theater, Bowling/Diner, Office Complex, Large Retail Tenants, and a gas station.  There also has been movement along Hinsdale Road as one of the homes has been razed.

Camillus Consolidated Water District Abolishment

October 8th, 2012

Camillus Consolidated Water – Residents will be able to vote on a referendum to abolish the Water Department on Tuesday October 30th at the Town Hall and have OCWA take over the Camillus territory.  A letter will be sent to all customers explaining the savings but here is brief summary:

  • No loss of jobs as all employees will be able to transfer to OCWA.
  • No disruption/decrease in service as these same employees will work out of the Camillus. office in addition to the employees already working for OCWA.
  • A savings to the Town General tax base of at least $1.16 million over the next ten years.
  • Savings of upwards to $47 per quarter based on your assessed value and water usage.
  • For every $100,000 in improvements within the Camillus Consolidated Water District, it will cost each resident $.1023 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.  On a typical $150,000 home this will total $15.35.  Under OCWA, the cost increase for the same improvement would be negligible as the cost is spread among the 93, 870 customers.  Keep in mind we have an aging infrastructure.
  • The remaining funds in the fund balance should be distributed to existing customers.  This could equate to a $60-$75 check to each customer.

If you would like to see what the potential savings may be for your property just enter your assessment and usage into the spreadsheet I have attached here:  Water Compare Savings
