I wanted to share some information to encourage everyone in the County of Onondaga to participate in the 2020 Census. The count begins approximately 1 year from now, but many are working right now to make sure all of our community members are aware of the Census and have the educational resources that explain the confidentiality laws around the census, answer any questions, and make sure community members are aware of the safety of the census and the need for as accurate a count as we can get!
The data that is collected during this census count will be used to determine many things about our relationship for the next 10 years with the Federal Government. This data will be used as the basis for distributing more than $675 billion in federal funds annually to states, counties, and communities to support resources such as schools, hospitals, and fire departments.
