WAVES

There has been a lot of confusion in regards to WAVES ambulance service to residents of the 2nd Ward and hopefully the Public Hearing Scheduled for this Tuesday, August 26 at 7:00 will clear things up.  Anyone who is currently receiving WAVES services is already part of the district and is currently being charged a fee , this shows up on your tax bill and all these fees go direct to WAVES as part of their contract.  Those that are not in the district have received a letter from the town explaining the situation and notifying them of the Public Hearing on this Tuesday.  The town feels that WAVES provides a superior service and more importantly their response time is much quicker than GBAC.  That being said that is the purpose for the Public Hearing; o engage the public and get their feedback.  Your opinions will determine if we switch the service over to WAVES.  I can only speak for myself but if the residents who are currently serviced by GBAC are able to hear the facts and still want to stay with GBAC versus WAVES then I will support their decision.  It is really up to the residents.
