2014 Proposed Budget

Tonights Town Board meeting will include the 2014 Budget – We always try to keep the increase flat.  We are proposing a .06% increase from 2013.  This equates to roughly $5.70 on a $150,000 home.  You can view the proposed budget by clicking here:  2014 Preliminary Budget

Health Care and retirement benefits are the big hurdles we are facing again. Many of the cost increases to the budget are as follows: The 2014 Employees & Retirees Health Insurance total was $1,511,000 (+$70,000) including a new Federal Health Care Act Tax of $48,000 to be paid by the Camillus Residential/ Commercial Property owners. Also, other expenses to the budget for 2014 were ~$260,000 for replacing worn out Town Landfill equipment, Special District increases and the estimated reduction of ~ $ 150,000 income from two of our Town profit centers which typically have a total profit of $700,000+. The Town Employees New York State Retirement System’s benefit costs are still underfunded and continued reform is necessary to reduce the cost to the Town taxpayers. The total mandatory contribution to the NY State Retirement system from the Camillus tax payers for the year 2014 will be ~ $1,231,000 (+21,000).
