Upcoming Committee Meetings
September 4th, 2012SOCPA
September 4th, 2012Last week the Syracuse-Onondaga County Planning Agency held a meeting at the Town Hall to discuss their Final Draft Plan. The plan promotes smart growth principles and ways to combat suburban sprawl. Most of this would appear to come at the expense of growth in Camillus and this was pointed out to SOCPA. A letter was also drafted stating our position on this issue.

Committee Mtg. Notes 8/16/12
August 22nd, 2012Recent Committee meetings were held and here are the notes. All board members were present with the exception of J. Salanger and R. Griffo.
Parks: Airport/Aviation Museum Proposal
Camillus was an early county leader in aviation/airport industry. The first facility in the county was located behind where Reed Webster Park currently is. A Committee has been formed and they want to erect a small museum to showcase our community’s place in early aviation. It is proposed to be located in Reed Webster Park. Tentative architectural renderings are drawn. The committee is not seeking any funds from the town. They are only seeking town board support to legitimize seeking funding from all other sources.
This plan started in March 2006 as Supervisor was asked to assist for a location for a model and it grew to showcase this missing piece of Camillus history. A 501(c)3 may be most likely be formed to assist in seeking funds.
Zoning & Planning: A Frame Signs
The town board has been working with local business as there has been a proliferation of A Frame signs recently. The Planning and Boards, along with our Codes department has worked diligently to clean up the appearance of Geneese Street and we have been asked to assist with the business owners. Currently 18 standard signs already are in existence. The concerns exist that this could turn in to an unsightly issue if everyone starts to utilize it. A lenghty discussion ensued and the issue will be discussed at the August 28 Town Board Meeting.
Honeywell Remediation entrance temporarily closed
August 22nd, 2012The entrance to the Honeywell remediation site used for trucks adjacent to the NYS Fairgrounds will be temporarily closed during the fair. The entrance near Airport & Armstrong Rd. will be utilized instead. Please direct any questions or if there are concerns to Craig Milburn at 552-9784. If you feel uncomfortable calling or you feel that you are not getting an appropriate response please let me know and Iwill intercede.
2013 Budget
August 22nd, 2012Its hard to beleive but the 2013 Town Budget sessions are about to begin. I feel very comfortable in this arena as I have experience in municipal budgets (as well as familiarity with FD budgeting), capital projects and multi-million dollar budgeting. Once the dates for early September are confirmed I will post them. The goal is to have these on a weekly basis.
