Mike LaFlair – 2nd Ward Councilor

With the redrawn assembly districts, the 126^th District, which includes the Town of Camillus, is now represented by Gary D. Finch (R).  Assemblyman Finch will be hosting a town hall style meeting at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 16.  This will take place at the Camillus Town Hall on E. Genesee Street.

I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly thank 2^nd Ward resident Jay Logana.  Jason recently finished his term on the Planning Board and decided to not seek reappointment.  Jason’s knowledge and commitment to finding the balance between quality of life and economic development will certainly be missed.  There were nine highly qualified applicants and two were selected to serve on the Planning Board; Don Klaben and Tracy Lauer.

Rebate checks for the former customers of the Camillus Consolidated Water Authority are anticipated to be ready by early to mid-March.

Construction on the Boathouse adjacent to Reed Webster Park is scheduled to resume (weather permitting).  Thanks to the efforts of the Erie Canal Society, led by Dave and Liz Beebe, no tax dollars were utilized in this endeavor.  It is the hope of the Canal Society that this project will be completed prior to summer.

Below is the Agenda for the Town Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 7:00.  Item #6 is a new subdivision located in the 2nd Ward.  There are no other items on the agenda.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Set the date, time, and place as February 26, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Camillus Municipal Building to hold a public hearing to consider the 2013 Community Development Projects.
2.  Approve the donation of $500 for the 2013 “All Night/After the Ball Party” for the West Genesee High School Class of 2013. 
3.  Approve the Scope of Services from Barton &Loguidice in the amount not to exceed $68,000 for the Suburban Green Infrastructure Shove Park Project. 
4.  Approve the reduction of roadway securities for Westshire Subdivision from $50,000 to $8,500.  (Per Barton& Loguidice)
5.  Approve the budget transfer for the Code Enforcement Office in the amount of $879.28 from account B.3620.210 (equipment and reserve) to cover the over budget amounts in the following accounts for 2012 account B.3620.420 (gas and repairs) $696.98 and account B-3620.430 (schools).
6. Set the date, time, and place as February 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Camillus Municipal Building to hold a public hearing to consider the establishment of the Thompson Landing Water District.  
7.  Set the date, time, and place as February 12, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Camillus Municipal Building to hold a public hearing to consider amending Chapter 60- Traffic and Vehicles §60.22-Stop Intersections, to add a stop sign at the corner of Shrineview and Chapel Drive at the NE corner of Fairmount Animal Hospital.  (Per Councilor Jim Salanger)

Here is the agenda for the regular meeting on Tuesday, January 8.  Please note that item under is located within the 2nd Ward.  This is to cover the costs of the streets that have already been in place for several years.  The amount would be .3851 per $1,000 of assessed value.

ADJOURNMENT

A new restaurant/tavern is being proposed for the Home Depot plaza. It will be called Wildcat’s in honor of its Camillus location and will be adjacent to Dunn Tire.  They are a locally owned business that also operates the two Trapper’s Pizza locations and a similar establishment called Stinger’s; all in the eastern part of the County.  I have been to all 3 facilities and the pizza and wings are excellent.  The will also have an outdoor volleyball court and are very family oriented.  They will be an excellent addition to the community and it’s nice to see another successful locally owned business expand.  The current plans call for a spring opening.

The Onondaga Lake clean-up project has ended for 2012.  The NYS DEC, who has oversight for the project, has scheduled a meeting with neighbors to discuss the most recent monitoring data and the status of possible additional odor mitigation measures.  The meeting will be held at Holy Cross Church on Armstrong Rd., Thursday, January 31, from 6 pm to 8 pm.  February 7 will serve as a snow date if necessary.  To reserve a spot please contact Stephanie Harrington at the NYSDEC 426-7441.
