Onondaga Lake Dredging Completed

November 3rd, 2014

Honeywell has completed the dredging of Onondaga Lake under the supervision of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Environmental Agency, a year ahead of schedule. Dredging activities began in July 2012. About 2.2 million cubic yards of material was removed from the bottom of the lake using hydraulic dredges.

Holiday Closures

The Town offices will be closed on Tuesday November 4 (Election Day), the building will be open for voting.  The Town offices will also be closed on Tuesday November 11 for Veteran’s Day.  Trash pick-up will be on its normal schedule for both weeks.

Town Board Meeting Date Change

The Town Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday November 11 has been changed due to the Veteran’s Day Holiday.  It is now Thursday November 6, 7:00

Zoning Board Meeting Date Change

October 28th, 2014

Due to the Election Day Holiday the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Tuesday November 4th will now be held Thursday, November 6 in the upstairs Board Room.

Red Robin

October 27th, 2014

The development team behind Red Robin appeared before the Planning Board recently.  They are planning on a Spring 2015 construction start with a potential opening in September 2015.  More details to follow as they become available.

Here is the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting; items #3 & 4 under Public Hearings and 2-4 under New Business are in the 2nd Ward:

PUBLIC HEARING (S)

  1. Consider the 2015 preliminary budget.
  2. Consider the 2015 budget for all special districts in the Town of Camillus.
  3. Consider the formation of Sewer, Water, and Drainage Districts for Malibu Estates.
  4. Consider amending Chapter 30-Zoning, §816-Exceptions for the purpose of designating the existing provision as subdivision A and adopting subdivision B to state “The Camillus Canal Society, Inc. may advertise the Town of Camillus’ Erie Canal Park by placement of a mural on the south and east walls of the building located at 3660 Milton Avenue, TM#:  046.-01-06.0  and 046.-01-07.0 subject to the approval of the content and oversight of the maintenance of the mural advertisement by the Town of Camillus Parks & Recreation Director”.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Set the date, time and place as November 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Camillus Municipal Building to hold a public hearing to consider amending the Camillus Municipal Code, Chapter 34-Fences, §34.7-Exceptions, the purpose of which is to allow a fence exception at 121 Stockton Place, TM#049.-04-01.0 for a 6’ Stockade fence with the good side facing in commencing 35’ from the SW corner property line running approximately 90’ toward the SE corner of the property.  (Per Councilor Steve James)
  2. Authorize the reduction of drainage securities for Thompson’s Landing Subdivision from $11,000 to $4,500.  (Per Barton & Loguidice)
  3. Authorize the reduction of sanitary sewer securities for Thompson’s Landing Subdivision from $76,000 to $15,000.  (Per Barton & Loguidice)
  4. Authorize the reduction of erosion control securities for Thompson’s Landing Subdivision from $12,000 to $2,000.  (Per Barton & Loguidice)

Sportsman Club

There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 7:00 in the downstairs Town Board meeting room in the Town Hall on West Genesee Street in regards to the stray bullets discovered in the View Point neighborhood over the last several months.

The meeting will include Town Officials and representatives from the Camillus Police Department to discuss all of the information and communications we have to date since the issue was first reported.  We will also invite representatives from the Sportsman Club.  Everyone will be welcome to the meeting and encouraged to ask questions.

Highway Superintendent

October 19th, 2014

Highway Superintendent – Mark Pigula has decided to retire at the end of this year, so we will be looking for someone to replace him. Whoever is hired will have to run for the job in next year’s election.  I want to thank Mark for a tremendous career and a job well done.
