Civil Discourse Discussion

January 28th, 2012

Over the last year many citizens in the Greater Central New York Region expressed a deepening concern for the uncivil behavior and disrespect witnessed at so many local public forums, community meetings, at our sporting events and on the streets of our city, towns and villages. In recognizing that this growing concern is a serious challenge to the strength and fellowship of our community, F.O.C.U.S. joined in partnership with Syracuse University’s Maxwell School PARCC program, the Campbell Institute, and CNYSpeaks to develop community standards of discourse to ensure all are heard, all are respectful in their voice and that the issues facing our community and nation can be discussed in a civil and just manner.
