Save Modified Sports

March 28th, 2012

In an effort to keep the Modified Sports Program thriving in the West Genesee School district the Modified Sports Booster Club will be hosting a very exciting fund-raising event June 3, 2012 at West Genesee High School.

The Plan includes:

A 5K Walk/Run for students, family members, teachers, staff, coaches, and community members.  At the finish area, there will be food drink, music, and a “Fun Zone” tent with activities for the kids.  Following the Walk/Run there will be a WGMS vs CMS softball game played by the Middle School coaches and teachers. We are expecting a high profile celebrity to umpire the game.  To promote the run we will have a float in the Camillus Memorial day Parade

Genesee Street Improvements

The County still continues to work on the plans for the improvements on Genesee Street.  You will recall that last year the plans were rejected by a majority of the public.  The county is roughly 80% with the new design; we should have a set to review by the end of April

New Development – Aspen Fitness

March 20th, 2012

Aspen Fitness has just signed a lease to occupy 3500 W. Genesee St., the site of the former Maines store.  I am happy to see this occur in bringing additional tax revenues to the town as well as jobs.  They are a great company and have also recently expanded into downtown Syracuse.

There will be a Parks & Recreation Committee meeting Thursday, March 23, 5:00 in the upstairs conference room.  Here is the agenda:

1. Optimist Field – Bob Antonacci has offered to bring in equipment to smooth out the field and put sod down at his own expense.  In return he has asked for use of the field after the Camillus teams are done in August. This is at no cost to the town.  As a member of the baseball organization this is a huge help to the organization and savings to the town.

2. Erie Canal Park – We need a resolution so that the Canal Society can pursue a Community Foundation grant for fitness stations at the park.  There
will be no cost to the town.
