PUBLIC HEARING (S)

1. Consider amending the Camillus Municipal Code, Chapter 60-Traffic and Vehicles, §60.22-Stop Intersections to erect a stop signs and add stop signs in the Country Oaks Subdivision, Section 5:  Pacer Way @ Big Bend Way, Owls Nest Way @ Pacer Way, Big Bend Way at Shetland Place, Turkey Run Lane @ Owls Nest Way and Big Bend Way, Turkey Run Lane @ Pottery Road, Owls Nest Way @ Shetland Place-4 way stop.  (Per Councilor Mike LaFlair)

NEW BUSINESS

1. Approve the Subdivision Improvement Security Agreement for Viewpoint Estates, Section 2 and authorize Supervisor to sign. 

2. Approve the budget transfer of $4,255.84 from Special Use Buildings (A.9910.900) to Buildings Municipal (A1620.0420) to cover the cost of the cafeteria renovation completed in May 2011.   

3. Authorize Code Enforcement to proceed with property clean up at 106 Hollowcrest Road, TM# 056.-01-08.0 in accordance with Chapter 74- Brush, Grass, Rubbish, and Weeds.  (Per Councilor Jim Salanger)

4. Authorize Code Enforcement to proceed with property clean up at the vacant corner lot at Hudson & Columbus TM# 045.-10-01.0 in accordance with Chapter 74- Brush, Grass, Rubbish, and Weeds.  (Per Councilor Bill Davern)

5. Authorize Code Enforcement to proceed with property clean up at  219 Mallard Dr – TM# 062.-01-22.0 in accordance with Chapter 74-Brush, Grass, Rubbish, and Weeds.  (Per Councilor, Dick Griffo)

6. Accept the bid of $240,400 for the John Deere 850 L Waste Handler Bulldozer and the Rotary Powered Cab Air Pre-cleaner in the amount of $2,660 from Five Star Equipment to be used at the Camillus Landfill.  (Per Public Works Committee)

7. Authorize the refund of $150 to Greg Tearney, 4488 Onondaga Road, Syracuse, NY for a ZBA application fee for a sign variance that was not required. (Per Tom Price, Code Enforcement Officer)

Prior to the town Board meeting on Tuesday the Finance Committee met to discuss required year end transfers.   The transfers occurred under the Parks & Recreation Department and the Buildings Departments.  The majority cause of the transfers were under Personnel costs.  During last years budget the contract settlements called for retroactive raises which were not included in last years projections.   However the department leadership did an outstanding job and overall came in under budget to cover the shortfalls.  My thanks to Eric Bacon and Tom Hart who did and continue to do an outstanding job in running there respective departments.  

The only item of note I would like to address was item 2 from the agenda.  The town is working with Bob Antonacci and his Babe Ruth group to bring Fall Baseball to the Town of Camillus Optimist Field located on Milton Ave from August 1 thru October 15^th.  Currently this field is in very unsafe and unplayable conditions and sees very little usage year round let alone in the fall.  With the groups help and significant donations, they will spend $15,000 to $20,000 to upgrade the field and bring another great field back to life.  Additionally, many traveling teams from outside the town and county will be traveling here to utilize this field; exposing them to our great town and also providing them and their families’ places to eat, sleep and shop.  This will result in dollars being spent here and untold marketing assistance when they return home.  This is exactly the type of creative partnerships I was hoping to explore to further enhance our economic development opportunities.

The Finance Committee will meet at 6:00 prior to the Town Board meeting to discuss the transfers on the agenda.

Please mark your calendars for May 22, 2012 Dr. Emanuel Carter the Chairman of the Community Planning committee will meet with us at 6:30 prior to our board meeting to discuss several successful Brownfield remediation projects.  Dr. Carter is working with ESF, the Town of Geddes and the Town of Camillus for re-use of the Allied Waste Beds. This group has agreed to hold meetings as needed.  This group was formed with Honeywell, the two towns and the DEC.
