Shove Park Burglary

March 7th, 2015

A message of Parks Commissioner Eric Bacon to the Camillus Police Department:
On February 20, 2015 at approximately 10:00 PM two of our locker rooms had items stolen from them while adult hockey players were out on the ice. Needless to say, the people who had items stolen were not happy. I also was not happy as I felt that our “house” at Shove had been violated. Almost immediately your department stepped forward to begin the process of determining who was responsible. Last week I had regular contact with your department and as always, was impressed with their professionalism and genuine desire to apprehend the person who was responsible. Through the efforts of your department, fortunately you were able to quickly identify the suspect who lived out of the area and by the end of the week take the suspect into custody. I was impressed with this efficiency and even more impressed that the suspect who was arrested is and has been linked to similar crimes in other facilities over a period of time and your agency was the Police Department that was able to arrest him. That is impressive and I think is something you should be proud of. Your department constantly looks out for my department and the residents of the Town of Camillus. Please accept my personal “thank you” to you and all the members of your agency. We are very lucky to be served by true professionals who care so much about their/our community.

Township 5

January 27th, 2015

The T-Mobile location at Township 5 is now open. Costco, the development’s first tenant and major anchor opened in October. Others including LongHorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings and Metro Mattress followed. There are more coming this year. The $58 million project will have 500,000 square feet of space when finished, including retail, offices and a 96-unit apartment complex. Red Robin, the restaurant moved from one of the development’s multi-tenant buildings to a stand-alone spot, but it remains in the lineup. Other tenants on the way include Mesa Grande Taqueria, Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt, Papaya Asian Kitchen & Bar, Subway, Mystique Nail Spa, Gertrude Hawk Chocolates and Hair Studio One. One other big tenant, Frank Theatres’ CineBowl & Grille, is set to open in the summer. CineBowl is a combination bowling alley, movie theater and restaurant. It’s owned by the same parent company as Revolutions at Destiny USA.

F.O.C.U.S. on Financing Opportunities for Critical Infrastructure Needs

January 25th, 2015

Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Syracuse City Hall, 3rd floor (changed site) Common Council Chamber – 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
GUEST PRESENTER: THE HONORABLE MATT DRISCOLL, CEO NYS EFC (Environmental Facilities Corporation) and former Mayor, City of Syracuse
TOPIC: “F.O.C.U.S. on Financing Opportunities for Critical Infrastructure Needs”
Infrastructure improvements are vital to the sustainability of our community. The January F.O.C.U.S. forum informed us of our municipality needs and opportunities. On February 20th former Mayor Matt Driscoll will discuss financing opportunities for infrastructure improvement locally and in New York State. Matt Driscoll is President and CEO of the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation (EFC), the arm of Governor Cuomo’s administration that provides low-cost financing to local governments for wastewater and drinking water infrastructure. President Driscoll has led EFC since 2010, and administers the largest and most successful State Revolving loan fund in the nation, managing more than $12 billion in assets. EFC ended the 2014 fiscal year with more than $2.3 billion in financings and refundings to local governments – the largest in the history of EFC and once again, New York State led the nation with the largest investment in wastewater infrastructure. Under Mr. Driscoll’s leadership, the Corporation also extended EFC’s award-winning Green Innovation Grant Program, keeping New York at the forefront of “green” urban and infrastructure planning. From 2001 to 2009, Mr. Driscoll served as the 52nd Mayor of the City of Syracuse. Elected to two terms, Mr. Driscoll’s tenure in office was distinguished by his environmental and sustainability initiatives.

Delta Sonic

January 25th, 2015

Even though this location is technically across our border and in the Town of Geddes I wanted to share the latest information:
That long-simmering Delta Sonic location across from the Fairmount Wegmans looks like it’s nearly ready to start blasting your salt-encrusted cars to a blinding sheen. But according to the company, it’ll be a few more months before the new spot opens. There’s no firm date yet.
When it does open, the location will have a car wash, detail shop, gas, convenience store and a Tim Hortons Cafe with a drive-through window. The site will also have Delta Sonic’s Brick Oven eatery, offering pizzas, salads, sandwiches, wraps and other goodies. Work on the location has been underway for well over a year. Delta Sonic’s other Syracuse-area locations are on Erie Boulevard in DeWitt and Route 11 in Salina.
