West Genesee Street Development

The Syracuse area will have to wait a little longer for its first Qdoba Mexican Grill location. The Tex-Mex chain had been slated for a new retail development in Camillus, across from the Fairmount Target on West Genesee Street. But the plans didn’t come together. Qdoba will be replaced by Chipotle. One burrito joint begets another. The project involves the retail plaza that is currently home to Joy Carpet, among others. Buildings housing Joy and a nail salon will be torn down, along with a portion of an existing strip building in the same area. The project’s developer, Morgan Management of Rochester, will construct three new buildings on the site. Work should start in the next two months. In addition to Chipotle, other tenants include Aspen Dental and Panda Express, a fast-casual Chinese chain. Panda Express recently opened its first Syracuse-area location in Cicero. Chipotle has three locations in the Syracuse area already. The small strip building at the site will be renovated and have space for two or three more new tenants. The H&R Block location in that building will remain, said Matt Lester, managing partner at Caliber Commercial Brokerage in Rochester, which is handling leasing for the project. The plaza was home to several businesses previously, but many have already moved or have plans to do so soon.

Onondaga County Comptroller Releases Report on County Debt

Robert E. Antonacci II, Onondaga County Comptroller, releases his office’s comprehensive report on County debt. The County has different types of debt agreements and vehicles to pay down County debt. This report provides a general overview of the debt processes and provides debt payment exhibits/schedules at both the detailed project level as well as the Department level. In addition to the detailed debt payment schedules there are also schedules relating to authorized debt but not yet issued. This is a snapshot at present of the potential additional debt to be issued in the future. The report was designed to provide in detail projects the County has bonded for as well as the different interest subsidies received. These interest subsidies are a benefit to the County by keeping net interest rates low. The report identifies the different areas of potential consideration when making decisions regarding undertaking County Debt. The report was updated with two appendix exhibits for year-end 2014 outstanding debt subsequent to the attached Department response. WG High School Mock DWI

I-81 Update

The I-81 Viaduct Project’s – Scoping Report has been published to our project website. The report includes an overview of the project; its purpose, need, and objectives; alternatives being advanced for further evaluation and development, as well as those that were considered and dismissed; a framework for the environmental studies; information on agency and public involvement; a summary of public comments and responses to these comments; and several appendices.
