February 16th, 2019I am happy to announce that the Town Of Camillus received a grant in the amount of $5,000. We have been designated a Clean Energy Community by completing 4 Impact areas:
1. Benchmarking municipal building energy use
2. Adopting the Unified Solar Permit
3. Completing the free energy code enforcement training program
4. Converting all cobra head street lights to LED

The Onondaga County Office of Environment will hold a public meeting to discuss the Onondaga Lake Beach Feasibility Study and Design project on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, 5–7pm, at the Destiny USA SkyDeck. The purpose of this project is to assess the current public interest and feasibility for a beach on Onondaga Lake. This will include, but is not limited to, identifying the best location for a possible beach in Onondaga Lake Park and developing a design including amenities that would make the beach a success for the community.
This event will include a project overview presentation at 5:30pm followed by a poster session during which attendees can speak with scientists and agency representatives as well as provide input on beach location and amenities. It will be the first of three public meetings held as part of this project. In addition, an online public opinion survey seeking input on an Onondaga Lake beach is available here and is posted on the main page of the Onondaga County Office of Environment website.

1. Effective January 28, 2019 appoint part time police officer Mitchell J. Valentine of Camillus, New York as a full time police officer for the Town of Camillus Police Department with an annual salary of $ 42,477.00 and a 78 week probation period. (Per Personnel Committee)
2. Approve the Assignment, Release & Settlement Agreement between the Town of Camillus and Colonial Surety Company for the claim of the Town of Camillus against Feher Rubbish Removal and authorize Supervisor to sign.
3. Authorize the Town Comptroller to refund to all residents in the Fox Chapel Sewer District who were erroneously levied a tax assessment for the calendar year 2019. (Per Assessor Celeste Karakas)
4. The Camillus Town Board declares the Project to finance the purchase of machinery and apparatus for the Highway Department in the amount of a $270,000 Serial Bond constitutes a “Type II Action” under 6 NYCRR § 617.5(c)(25), and no further action under the SEQR Act and the Regulations is required.
5. The Camillus Town Board of the Town of Camillus, New York hereby approves a resolution drafted by Bond, Schoeneck and King, LLC dated January 22, 2019 authorizing the issuance of $270,000 serial bonds to finance the purchase of machinery and apparatus for the Highway Department.
6. Declare the Camillus Town Board as Lead Agency in the Reed Webster Park Parking Lot Improvement Project from Community Development.
7. Declare the Reed Webster Park Parking Lot Improvement Project from Community Development as an unlisted action under SEQR determining that the proposed action will not result in any significant adverse environmental impacts.

New Developments
January 12th, 2019Core Life Eatery has now committed to taking 4,000 sq. ft. in Fairmount Fair. Core is a healthy eating establishment offering all organic salads and such. No opening date has been announced. At Township 5 there is a new restaurant called the Indian Grill offering lunch buffets and a full dinner menu in the evening. It has take out service (315-991-4344) for its fine Indian cuisine and is located next to The Brasserie. Soon to be built next to the Movie Tavern will be a satellite office of Upstate Hospital in which there will be 25 offices offering various medical specialties. Also next to Metro mattress The Deep Stop Scuba Store has moved from its former location in the village. Witty Wicks, a candle & gift shop, has recently opened next to the frozen yogurt store The Second Chance Diner has recently opened in the former Moe’s Pit Barbeque place on Bennett Rd. They serve outstanding breakfasts and lunches from 6am to 3 pm Tuesdays thru Sundays. Stop in- you won’t be disappointed. The Village of Camillus is looking quite good with all of the new store fronts. New to the village is Freedom of Expresso is a new coffee shop that is doing extremely well. It is located in the former Camillus Cutlery- now upscale apartments. There is a sign in the window at the former pizza shop at the corner of North St. and Genesee St. advertising the soon to open Kiki’s Greek Restaurant. A Vietnamese Noodle House is soon to open at Elm Hill Plaza, taking a little under 3,000 sq. ft.
