The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II Office and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NY DEC) would like to partner with you to inform Onondaga County residents of the flood risks shown on the preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) by hosting a series of Flood Risk Open House meetings.
The Open Houses will provide residents with the opportunity to meet with experts one-on-one to learn more about their flood risk, get information on potential changes to flood insurance rates or requirements, and learn tips on how to mitigate and prepare for future floods. The Open Houses will occur on:
Wednesday, September 7
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
DeWitt Community Room
148 Sanders Creek Parkway
East Syracuse, NY 13507
And
Thursday, September 8
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Southwest Community Center
401 South Avenue
Syracuse, NY 13204
There will be no formal presentation. Residents can come any time during the scheduled hours. Officials are also encouraged to attend to provide a local perspective on the information their residents will receive.
To ensure a good turnout, we rely on your expertise for the best way to reach out to your residents. I have sent an Open House Toolkit that includes materials to help you advertise this event, including an event flyer, sample tweets, PSAs, and a news release.
We look forward to meeting with you and your residents to discuss flood risk and risk mitigation. If you have any questions, please contact Amber Greene at (646) 522-9271 or by email at amber.greene@ogilvy.com.
