Brush pick up

There has been a change made to the brush pick up schedule. The schedule in the Insight Newsletter no longer applies as brush will now be picked up on a rotating schedule so you should never have brush in front of your house for more than 7 days. Essentially we are back to weekly pickup but it won’t always be the same scheduled day as in the past. The brush crew will be out daily going through zones the superintendent has set up. The Town has been divided into 5 zones so when the brush crew goes thru all 5 zones (usually in a week) they start over and begin again. Thus no matter what day you put out brush to the curb, it will be picked up within a week no matter what day you put it out. If a large pile is left it may be they have to send another type of vehicle to get the debris. So, don’t think it was forgotten; it will be done a few days later. This mostly refers to large leaf piles that a vacuum truck will address or large tree limbs that need a grapple or pay loader to pick up and haul away. We have our new Highway Superintendent, Paul Legnetto, to thank for this new schedule. Some have not been happy with the twice a month brush schedule especially in the Spring and Fall so this should be the answer. Please visit the Town of Camillus website and go to the highway dept. section to view the zones. Paul has a great grasp of technology and has interactive maps that show this. Fairly soon you will be able to see when street paving and basin work will be done each week. One last thing, grass clippings will not be picked up by the brush crew. If you bag your grass clippings you can take them to the compost area behind the highway garage.
