I attended the Camillus Canal Society Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on March 10. This annual event is a great way to celebrate all the fantastic work that the volunteers do to enhance and maintain this local treasure. Our local canal society has 166 active volunteers. They logged in a total of 22,251 hours of service. This number is probably low as sometimes the volunteers forget to sign in. This is the rough equivalent of 11.25 full-time employees, contributing an in kind savings of well over $500,000.00 last year.
